Taylor Roberts Now Takes Direct Debit

We are now able to take payments via direct debit. We use a company called GoCardless.
A Direct Debit mandate can be set up to cover all payments made to us or alternatively you can click the Pay Online button on our invoices. You will be requested to enter a few details including your bank account number. This will create an ad hoc one time only authorisation for that particular invoice.
If anyone would like to start paying via this method please get in touch.
The ability to take Direct Debits is actually really simple and cheap using cloud based book keeping software Kashflow and GoCardless together. If you would like to know more and help setting it up get in touch.
UK SMEs plan for growth in the coming year
According to a recent report the majority of small and medium enterprises are concentrating on growth in the next 12 months, despite the recent problems in the economy. The Treasury have announced tax reliefs are to be introduced for creative industries in the UK. The consultation document outlines the introduction of a scheme which is based on tax relief in the film industry. HMRC fails to answer over a quarter of helpline calls

According to recent data, HM Revenue & Customs kept callers to their helpline waiting for so long that over a quarter of callers hung up before being answered. The figures were obtained using the Freedom of Information Act and revealed an increase in callers terminating a call to HMRC. (more…)
Real Time failures to incur fines

A consultation recently launched by HM Revenue & Customs suggests that employers should be fined for failure to comply with the Real Time Information system. Among the suggestions for a fine was a £100 penalty for each failure to submit changes in the real time. The pilot for Real Time Information was launched in April 2012. By the end of June 2012 another 310 employers will be taking part in the trial, working with HMRC to iron out any problems. (more…)
Returns from Liechtenstein plan set to treble

HM Revenue & Customs has recently announced that around £3 billion will be collected from UK taxpayers who have registered with the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility. This trebles the previous expectation of £1 billion. Since the Liechtenstein Disclosure Facility was signed on 1st September 2009, over 2,400 people have registered with the facility, paying £363 million in tax bills. (more…)

Tribunals for HMRC reach record levels

Recently released figures show that the number of taxpayers going to a tribunal to settle disputes with HM Revenue & Customs has reached record numbers. The huge number of cases going to a tribunal has resulted in large backlogs of cases. The figures which were released by law firm Pinsent Masons, show that the last quarter of 2011 saw 3,400 disputes with HMRC going to a tax tribunal. (more…)
